4th of July 2005

We spent Independence Day 2005 in Massachusetts with my family. Our big family party was the day before, so we wanted to keep the 4th very low key. We decided to take the kids to see a baseball game. The Brockton Rox are a team in the Independent League. It is professional baseball not affiliated with MLB. the caliber of player is somewhere between single and double A ball.

We got a treat. Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd, a fan favorite from the 1986 Red Sox was pitching! Who knew he was still alive!!! We had a good time at the game (luckily we found seats in the shade). After the game we went back to my parent’s house and hung out by the pool.

Later that night we all hooked up with Freddy, Wendy and the kids to go see the Bridgewater fireworks. It was a good time! Here are some shots from the 4th of July. Enjoy!

Bates Party: Summer 2005

Every summer we have a family party and gather as many relatives and friends as we can to the Bates Family compound in West Bridgewater. Most years, it is right around the 4th of July. Many people would consider it a pretty big party (normally 80+ people), but not my mom. For her, it is a normal sized get together.

It is always a great time. I did my best to try and take pictures, but I got wrapped up in the festivities and visiting with friends and relatives that I only get to see once a year. Here are some snapshots of the day, enjoy…

Camping 2005: Pictures

In June we took the kids camping to the Mt. Shasta region of California over Father’s Day weekend.. It was a lot of fun. I will write up more about the trip in a separate post. For now, enjoy some of the pictures…

BatesCentral is Coming Along

Well, there is still not much content here, but I have been working on the design and a lot of back end PHP and SQL issues. That probably does not mean to much to most of you, but let’s just say that I had to get a lot of piddly work done before the main content comes.

Matt’s wedding is coming up in a couple of weeks, so don’t expect too much until the wedding is over. My future plans for the site will mainly evolve over the next couple of months. Here is a taste of what is comming…

  • Calendar
  • New picture galleries (mostly of Casey and Quinn)
  • E-mail updates when new content is added (for those who sign up)
  • Videos of the kids

I’ll add more over time, but just getting to the list above will take plenty of time. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

If you use an RSS reader or your web browser is FireFox, you can subscribe to our RSS feed and receive update notifications via your news reader.

FYI, you will notice a link to our old blog in the left sidebar. I added a link to the old blog that will bring you back here, if you want to poke around the old site to see how it differs from this new design. The old design sucked, but I never got around to setting aside the time to work on it.

BatesCentral Weblog Has A New Look and Feel…

It has been five months since my last post. Yes, I know it has been way too long and a lot has happened since the beginning of March. There was the Gymboree that we were screwed out of, Casey’s birthday, Jenn and I had our 8th wedding anniversary, Matt’s bachelor party in Vegas, our trip to Massachusetts, and much more. I will fill you in on all of the details soon enough.

First I need to finish working on our new look and feel. I have switched from iBlog to a more robust piece of software called WordPress. So far, it is everything I had hoped for. There is a lot of customization and design work left to do. Let me know what you think.
